Based on first-hand up-to-date materials, this passage probes into the overall purpose, concrete measures, and other influence of patriarchal clan education of Huizhou area. It is proposed that the overall purpose of patriarchal clan education of HuiZhou area during Ming and Qing Dynasty was to promote clan system. Moreover, the author makes a thorough analysis of the concuete measures adopted in imperial examination and vocational education system. The concvete measures are to ralue and encourage learning, to pay attention to the early education of adolescents, to set up clan private school, academy of classical learning and academic gathering, to appoint good teachers, to improve the environment of learning, and to cultival vocational skill and knowledge through clan partner system and commercial agreement in the course of trade and commerce. The author analyzes the reason for and the far-reading influence of the common practice of attaching importance to education through cultural conventions, the function of the study of zhuxi and the influence of natural environment.
