The development of human being as main body is one of the important signs of social and human progress. As the development of morden social life, culture and science and technology arouses the awareness of human being as main body, people have come to realize the importance of all -round development of human being. It has become the core of modern education to develop the character of human bing as main body. As a basic course Chinese teaching has a great superiority in developing the awareness of student as main body.But the present situation of our Chinese teaching is not satisfactory for lack of the consideration and the teaching objective of the character of student as main body. This article will take up the question of student as main body in Chinese teaching in high school in the following four respects. Firstly it takes for example the lack and loss of taking student as the main of education in such respects as seeking short-term success and quick profits and attending to trifles and neglecting essentials in siting Chinese teaching goal; paying too much attention to the basic knowlegde and skill and ignoring the humane intension; stressing teacher' s instruction to student's participation; the long unimplemented position of student as main body in teaching relation. Secondly the educational theory of student as main body is the inevitable choice for Chinese teaching. It discusses the new requirment to education from the development of modern social politic, economy, cultur science and technology and life, which determines that the teaching goal should be set in developing the character of student as main body; meanwhile the character of Chinese teaching also determines the stress on the student as main body. Thirdly from the practical point, it deals with how to carry out the policy of student as main body in Chinese teaching .pointing out that the main body position of student can be fixed in the five respects such as reforming the traditional relation between teachers and students, setting up new harmonious and democratic teaching atmosphere; reforming the model of traditionalclassroom teaching, paying more attention to the participation of student; developing the active study quality and habits; resetmg the teaching evaluation system to help student develop awareness of main body to protect student's initiative; making teaching forms varied and comprehensive. Lastly this article points out that in practice it should be prevent to go from one extrem to the other landing ourselves in the trap" Children Are Central".
