Education Total Quality Management Research

Total Quality Management (TQM) is one kind of methods of quality management. In order to guarantee the continued improvement of product quality, the whole staff of the organization comprehensively apply modern scientific and management technologies to the whole process and all sorts of factors affecting quality for total and systematic management so as to produce products that satisfy customers. It mainly includes four key ideals, namely customer's satisfaction, whole staff's participation, quality's continued improvement and managing according to the fact.TQM follows the logically developing route from manufacturing industry to the tertiary industries and then to education field. These scholars, Deming, Joseph Joran and Philip B ?Crosby etc., play critical roles during the maturity of TQM theory. At the same time, the scholars possess their own strong points, which provides several choices for the practice.The reason why higher education institution performs TQM is that the changing of social environment and its self-development highlight higher education quality, which causes it hard for the original model of quality management to meet the need of present quality management of higher education institution. So it is necessary for higher education to introduce TQM of enterprise to guarantee and improve education quality. Furthermore, the four ideals of TQM really have effect on the practice of education quality management of higher education.TQM of higher education institution is a completely new model of quality management. It naturally has distinctive differences from the original system of education quality management. In the process of performing TQM, it is important to construct a TQM system, conform to the circulation of PDCA and adopt all kinds of technological methods to ensure its normal and effective performance.At present, it is not much mature to certificate the system of TQM in higher education institution. Considering the development of TQM in the future, the author think that at last the ideals of TQM in higher education will merge with the traditional cultures of higher education institution and form a TQM model of higher education institution based on academic cultures.
