Web-based Adaptive Learning System

In twenty-first century, technology of multi-media and network will be applied deeply and wildly in instruction, and will improve the quality and efficiency of learning. But, if the instructional application based multi-media and network cannot be designed correctly, it will invoke some potential negative problems, and influence the quality and efficiency of instruction. The research analyzes the disadvantage of learning system based on the Web, and works over the theoretical basis, layout and designing, analysis of module, realization of technology and so on.Chap. I Introduction: describes the disadvantages of learning system based on Web. Then brings forward that it is necessary to design and develop adaptive learning system based on Web, and claim that adaptive learning system should provide with five basic functions.Chap. II Ttheoretical basis: we discuss upon the elements of learning theory about adaptive learning system. we must integrate the constructive learning theory with the objective learning theory, and syncretize four types of learning strategies, including cognitive learning strategy, Zone Proximal Development, scaffolding theory and advanced organization learning theory, and assimilate the excellences of objectivism's behavior instructional design theory and cognitive flexibility instructional design theory.Chap.III The lay out and designing of adaptive learning system based Web: we describe the layout and design in detail. Based on the analysis of conventional intelligent tutoring system, analyze the reason for the shift of adaptive learning system, and then deduce that adaptive learning system should be made up of role of instruction, learning tools' module, module of adaptive presentation and navigation, module of collaborative learning, module of domain and instruction expert, user modal and adaptive component.Chap. IV The construction of adaptive environment: we put forwardeight type adaptive supporting learning method for the learning strategies, then detailedly discuss the construction of the modules of user modal, the design of adaptive learning path, the construction of domain and instruction expert module and supporting method of collaborative learning.Chap. V The development of adaptive learning system based Web: we describe the five technological procedures of designing and developing adaptive learning system, which include the analysis and construction of system, the designing and development of database, programming, testing and maintaining.Chap. VI Conclusion: summarize the work of the thesis.
