| The management of students in colleges and universities is faced with a higher demand along with the penetrated higher education institutional reform and the wave of informatization, and how to process and utilize numerous and complicated information of students accurately and timely is one of the most important tasks facing the managerial staff. Currently, there are some researches and development about students management. But current solutions are provided with defects of immobilization and conventionalization, which are inadaptable to the developing demand of students management. Therefore, a simple, convenient and flexible management approach has to be found. The topic of this paper is how to select a proper mode to establish the information database of students, how to sort and classify statistical data with computer, how to make statistical analysis, and how to make the information support decision-making finally. Management Information System (MIS for short) is a man-machine system that unites all kinds of computer and software techniques. Working by computer instead of by hand can save the man power, improve the veracity and efficiency of work, so as to improve the whole level of management. This paper adopts MIS' theory and method to design the management of students in colleges.The Microsoft Excel 97 is adopted for data establishment and data management in this paper, which shall be used to manage student information in a fire-new mode together with SPSS11.0, the most advanced statistical software nowadays. The Perfect combination of Excel and SPSS leads to easy data exchange, easy database administration and powerful statistical analysis. The primary coverage of this paper is completed during the course of designing and implementing computer-aided student management in colleges and universities by the author. It quotes a great deal of real data, relates basical theory of information management, and expounds on the most commonly-used statistical analysis methods during student information management. First of all, it analyzes the demands of student management by combining the practice of a college. Then the detailed plan for managing students information management system is given as the kernel part of the paper. Finally, the author introduces solutions and reference theories to different problems from Chapter 3 to Chapter 6, and applies them to practical cases finally. The application part at the end of the paper include: first, daily file management, Party or Youth league organization management and sports meeting organization with Excel, which are featured in automatic statistics through Countif function. Therefore, the values of functions (for instance the amount of students in the whole school, the amount of boys or amount of girls) are closely related to the background of each student, and the changes of any item in the background shall result in changes of the functional values, so we may get up-to-date statistical figures through updating the background timely. In addition, classifiedand fixed-point query, data screening and sorting could also be realized. Second, a student's dormitory evaluation system that adopts Excel for information management and evaluation is designed and developed, which determines the assessment process with principal criteria for evaluation, and process collected information or data on student's dormitories comprehensively. This system could be used to evaluate the daily performance of students in dormitories and the performance of dormitory management of each Department quickly, objectively, accurately and scientifically, which shall offer scientific reference for the effective development of students' dormitory management works. At the same time, the evaluation result could be connected with the selection of Excellent Counselor, or Excellent Youth League Branch or the assessment of "Merit Student", "Merit Cadre" or Scholarship through this system, it may also serve as the reference for selection of Model Dormitory or Civilized Dormitor... |
