In our modern society, the information technology whose heart is computer and web technology is changing the views on knowledge, which also accelerates the renewing and transmitting of knowledge. So it is changing people's views on learning and teaching.As a learning way, inquiry learning, which aims at cultivating creative sprits and practicing abilities, which embodies the independent learning sprits, should pay much attention to the web technology. The web technology will bring a lot change on learning. So web-based inquiry learning comes on, which integrates both web technology and inquiry learning. But, the practice on it just makes its first step. So it is a factual research to guide the web-based inquiry learning in theory.This thesis centers on the design and analysis of the instructional mode of web-based inquiry learning. There are four sections in it. The first section introduces some kinds of the definition of inquiry learning firstly, and then gives the definition of web-based inquiry learning. The second section expounds the mode's theoretical basis which is the constructivist learning theory. It is modern teaching theory and modern learning theory, and depends on information technology a lot. The third section is the heart of this thesis. It puts forward the instructional mode of web-based inquiry learning on the basis of analyzing the existing instructional mode and the characters of web-based inquiry learning. The heart of this part is to analyze every factor including the mode. The last section of this thesis is to introduce how the research goes on which the author designed according to the instructional mode of web-based inquiry learning. In the light of how the research practices, the author synthesizes the phenomena which comes from the design and practice.
