One of the important principles in the new course standards is the alteration of the ways that the students learn and the teachers teach. The theories and practice of inquiry teaching in chemistry experiments at senior high schools are based on the above principle, and aim to change the situation of the low efficiency and functionality in the current experimental teaching. The inquiry teaching was proposed and conceived based on the practical classroom teaching, which is under the guidance of the modern teaching and learning theories. The thesis consists of six parts:1. The definition of inquiry teaching2. The necessity and the feasibility of inquiry teaching in chemistry experiments atsenior high schools3. The target and the value orientation of inquiry teaching in chemistry experiments at senior high schools4. The theoretical basic of inquiry teaching in chemistry experiments at senior high schools5. The design and practice of inquiry teaching in chemistry experiments at senior high schools6. The achievement of inquiry teaching in chemistry experiments at senior high schoolsThe first part of the thesis summarizes the content and essential of the inquiry teaching in the perspective of the teaching principle and methodology, on the basis of the definitions of the inquiry learning and the inquiry teaching. The second part explains the necessity and the feasibility of the inquiry teaching in chemistry experiments at senior high schools, on the basis of the analysis of the current situation and the current teaching materials in the experimental teaching, such as the content and the constitution of the chemistry experiments. The third part proposes the target and value orientation of the inquiry teaching, based on the goal and content of the new course standards, aiming at the situation of the low efficiency and functionality in the current experimental teaching.
