As the leader and manager in the school, the principal plays a major role in achieving education quality and school's development. Principal has been clearly defined as a career. Principal professionalization has become the goal of all countries in the world. The development of principal professionalization demands principals to raise their professional level. So, the research of principal professional development has great theoretical and practical significance.The factors influencing the principal professional development are many-sided, being the interaction of many factors like society, education, system and individuality, etc. Besides, each factor has structural elements of its own. These factors have different functions in influencing the principal professional development. Concretely speaking, the social factors mainly include economical treatment, social status, occupational prestige, professional organization, professional autonomy, etc. The educational factors mainly include pre-service education, appointment education, in-service training, practical training, etc. The system factors mainly include qualification system, appointment system, evaluation system, promotion system, etc. The individual factors mainly include the principal's self-development demand and consciousness, professional attitude and motive, career satisfaction and reflecting experience, etc.Based on the investigation on the factors influencing principal professional development, this research concludes that: the society, education, system and individuality have a great influence upon principal professional development. Compared with other three factors, individual factor shows significant difference. Concretely speaking, the influence degree of the principal's self-development demand and consciousness is the biggest, and professional autonomy, professional attitude and motive, reflecting experience are in file. Finally, this research puts forward suggestions about how to promote principal professional development as followings:(1) Enlarging the principal's power; (2) Rectifying professional attitude and motive of the principal still further; (3) Developing the principal's reflecting spirit and ability; (4) Enhancing the level of training teacher and optimizing training course; (5) Improving the system of managing principals.
