Teacher professionalization aims at both profession status and higher teacher professionalism. During its long course of d-evelopment, teachers have progressively acquired their professional characteristics. After succeeding in freeing themselves from the control of communities, teachers experienced themselves as autonomous practitioners isolated from outside world. In the times of global competitives, teachers are charged w-ith onerous tasks of economic regeneration and expected to help rebuilt national cultures and identities. Rampant and remorseless change imposed from above has become a pressing and immediate f-eature of teachers' working lives. In opposition to the compliant professionalism, teachers strongly demand to redifine it.The new definitions of professionalism has brought great changes to the conceptions of teacher education. The new concepts of teacher education put emphasis on practice knowledge and collegiality and cooperation. Teachers are encouraged to build on practice knowledge through ongoing inquiry and analysis and work in partnerships with their collegues and higher education institutions.Seeking the true meaning of the purpose of teacher professionalization and efficent and effective approaches to improve teacher professionalism is the priorities in our teacher professionalization.
