Italy was the cradle of the European Renaissance. The education thoughts of the Renaissance bear the features of humanism. The humanists respected the people and the value of the secular life. They advocated the humanities and criticized the scholasticism with the knowledge of ancient language and literature. People are required to make great efforts to study the humanities. This was a great promotion for the liberation of human minds in the Middle Age. Burckhardt's famous remark--"Discover the world and discover the human beings"--was the succinct summary for the spirit of the humanism. With great courage to face the future, the thinkers of the Renaissance learned from the past.Vergerio who was the education pioneer of Italian humanism elaborated on the ideas of the humanistic education systematically as the first. These ideas reflected the spirit of that age. Barzizza, Guarino and Vittorino put the ideas into their practice. Its influence was manifested all over Italy and the European countries.talian thoughts of the humanistic education and their rich practice of the school education laid a solid foundation for the secondary education development in the modern Europe. The church's monopoly of the school education was broken from then on. This also motivated the continuous development of the education innovation.
