Self-efficacy is individual perceived beliefs to control sorts of things in life. Self-efficacy is not an ability itself, but an estimation based on an ability subjectively. Self-efficacy is a key component of self- system, which can make dynamic power. Self-efficacy can affect adolescents' cognition, motivation, emotion, and choice process dramatically. Not only the level of self-efficacy influences adolescents' mental health, but also shapes individual' personality and behaviors.With a self-efficacy inventory (SEI), the parenting style scale (EMBU), family environmental scale (FES-CV), and mental health test (MHT) as main research tools, this research studied the developmental characteristics of self-efficacy of students in Gongdu schools, and the difference between Gongdu students' developmental characteristics of self-efficacy and those of normal students in junior high school. This research also studied the factors which influenced Gongdu students' developmental characteristics of self-efficacy, and the relation of the characteristics of self-efficacy and their mental health. The results indicated as follows:1. The Gongdu students' level of self-efficacy is generally lower than that of normal students in junior high school. The level of self-efficacy in first year is higher than that in second year in Gongdu schools, but the difference is not significant. But the level of self-efficacy in second year is lower than that in third year, and the difference is very significant. However, as time went on, the level of self-efficacy of normal students in junior high school had an ascending trend. Significant age and sex difference existed in Gongdu schools, but it did not in normal school.2. There, was significant correlation between Gongdu school students' self-efficacy with "emotional warmth and understanding " in parenting style they perceived and slight correlation between that and "excessive protection" in mother style they perceived. There also existed very significant correlation between Gongdu school students' self-efficacy and "Cohesion", "Achievement Orientation", "Active-Recreational Orientation" respectively. Other trait in family environment scale, such as "Expressiveness", "Organization", "Control" influenced Gongdu school students' self-efficacy deeply.3. There existed very significant correlation between Gongdu school students' self-efficacy and accompaniers' "Prognostication", "General Trust" in Trust Scale they perceived. There also existed significant correlation between Gongdu school students' self-efficacy and accompaniers' "Dependence" in Trust Scale they perceived.4. There existed very significant correlation between Gongdu school students' self-efficacy and "to resolve", "to appeal" and negative significant correlation between that and "to reproach himself, "to retreat" in coping style inventory they perceived.5. There existed very significant correlation between Gongdu school students' self-efficacy and their state anxiety, trait anxiety, depression and other index of mental health which implied self-efficacy is one of important factors that affected Gongdu school students' mental health. '6 Parents and teachers should help Gongdu school students to develop self-efficacy by several methods in order to their physical and psychological health development.
