Graduate student: Gao Li Supervisor: Associate Professor Zhang YunanP.E. by correspondence is an important part of life-long P.E. and a crucial guarantee for the sustainable development of P.E., and gymnastics is listed as one of the basic courses for students majoring in P.E. by correspondence in China's sport colleges for its unique functions of re-training, re-educating and re-improving primary and middle school P.E. teachers. People pay more attention to what courses should be taught and teaching hours in developing the major of P.E. by correspondence in China's sport colleges than the research on the course theories in that the teaching idea, content and methods and course system are a copy of the full-time teaching model. How to reform and develop gymnastics teaching in the major of correspondence P.E. in China's sport colleges so as to deepen and widen China's P.E. by correspondence is of great urgency and a foreseeing and practical task which will refresh our gymnastics teaching ideas, turn the scale of "passive gymnastics", promote the development of gymnastics teaching in the major of correspondence P.E. in China's sport colleges and provide the frame of reference for the present and future teaching reform in gymnastics course.The thesis conducted a questionnaire to the correspondence students to gather their opinions about the status quo of and the reform on the content system of gymnastics course for students in the majoring in P.E. by correspondence in China's sport colleges and another one to experts to demonstrate the content system of gymnastics teaching is constructed. And methods of literature search, interview, statistics and comparative analysis are used.The thesis investigated the reforming conditions of the content system of gymnastics course for students majoring in correspondence P.E. in China's sport colleges and analyzed problems in the current content system of gymnastics course and re-examined the gymnastics course target to construct and demonstrate a "competence-standard" course system conforming to the actuality of the P.E. and integrating ideology, knowledge and methods.Conclusions of the thesis are as followed:1. The development of gymnastics teaching in the major of correspondence P.E. in China's sport colleges is greatly impacted and subject to economical, political and cultural factors.2. Gymnastics teaching in the major of correspondence P.E. in China's sport colleges is dialectically unified and flexible, reflecting the developing demands of the society, correspondence students and knowledge.3. A shift in the educational idea is crucial to select and determine the content system of gymnastics course for students majoring in correspondence P.E. in China's sport colleges.4. A "competence-standard" content system of gymnastics teaching is constructed to improve the current one, in which the comprehensive occupational competence, especially creativity and ability of self-study, is a criterion to select teaching courses and assess the teaching result.
