While the current direction is one of education according to the laws, there has been an increase in the number of lawsuits involving teachers who have abused and carried to the extreme their right to discipline students. As people begin to appreciate their rights as citizens of the country, several developments such as the absence of rationale and order, incidences marked by exaggerated media reports and the bias harbored by government officers in charge of educational administration have led to a situation in which education could not be practiced. Many students have been hurt. This article is prepared based on a research into the Right to Discipline both here and overseas with the purpose of explaining why it is essential to keep the right to discipline and creating a fresh understanding of the right to discipline from the perspective of laws and regulations so that correct solutions and proposals may be made in relation to correct exercise of the right to discipline.
