Environmental education has been highly regarded since 1980s. Primary and middle school students, home and abroad, had received environmental education in various forms. Consequently, their environmental awareness has been established. One part of environmental education in middle school is the integration of it into middle school subjects, especially chemistry. Environmental education has grown into one indispensable component of middle school knowledge system.Investigatory learning is applicable in environmental education. Meanwhile, environmental education in chemical teaching has offered an opportunity for investigatory learning.This thesis highlights the investigatory learning and environmental education in the context of middle school chemical teaching. Benefiting from theories of Structuralism and investigatory learning, it also discusses ways to explore materials of environmental protection in chemical education. Finally, the conclusion is reached that students cannot receive appropriate environmental education unless the advantage of environmental education in the form of investigatory learning within the subject of chemistry is taken.
