With the development of economic globalization and information technology, the competition for talents is becoming determinant to the market competition which are based on science and technologies. Basically, the competition occurs among universities is how to keep their teachers with high qualifications. Currently, the prominent problem existing in common universities in china is the loss of talents, or brain drain, especially the loss of those with rich professional knowledge or experiences. This problem greatly affects the daily teaching and scientific research work in universities. So it is very urgent and significant to study it and solve this problem, especially when the laws and regulations against the unfair competition of talents are not canonical.This dissertation is basically composed of three parts. In the first part, the brain drain in common universities is discussed in genera. A series of data is employed to exhibit the ponderance of brain drain. Moreover, some similarities of brain drain issue exist among different universities, which is independent of the region and the extent of brain drain. The negative effects of talent loss are also discussed in this part.In the second part, the main reasons leading to brain drain in common universities are discussed in detail. Then reasons include not only the low salary but also some university level problems. After analyzing the reasons that cause the teachers to leave their universities, the countermeasures that partly or completely solve the problem of brain drain is discussed as well in the last part. In this part, both the construction of attractive salary system and improvement of organization of universities are discussed as effective ways to solve this problem.The dissertation is based on a large amount of statistical data and literatures. The writer combines the theories and realities to bring forward the problem of talent loss and the method to solving the problem. The conclusion of thisdissertation may be beneficial to abate the brain drain issue in common universities.
