The requirement of mathematical application in modern society hasresulted global mathematics education reform. And mathematicalmodeling is the product that combined economic society and mathematicseducation developed importantly. The high school mathematical contestin modeling (HIMCM) has held differently between America and China,hoping to cultivate the modeling consciousness in high school gradually,and more importantly, to promote the mathematics education reform.Through the comparison on HIMCM of America and China, the thesiswants to hold HIMCM of China correctly and wonderfully, and exploresa road to the development of mathematical modeling in high school,which takes advantages of strong points of HIMCM of America, andcombines the features of HIMCM of China.The thesis studies the background and present conditions of theproblem in and outside country, which expatiates the requirement ofmathematical application in modern society, the function of mathematicalmodeling in mathematics education and the unique characteristic ofmathematical contest in modeling. And then it expounds the purpose ofthe research and the ways to the research process. After that the thesiscompares and analyzes HIMCM of America and China on the purpose ofthe contest, the design of the contest, the contest question, the evaluationof the contest and so on.
