Relatively the comparison of mother tongue education and foreign language education is more than others in the research field of foreign language education. The purpose of this comparison is often to absorb the experience of mother tongue study and improve foreign language teaching. This thesis bases on mother tongue education, carrying on the comparison of two courses in overall system to summarize the characteristics of the mother tongue education, which is different from the general language education. We hope to make mother tongue education follow it's own unique law and improve teaching efficiency.There are three parts in my thesis: Foreword, text and conclusion. The text includes twoparts——Part A and Part B. The three chapters of Part A mainly compare the external studycondition of mother tongue education and foreign language. And the four chapters of Part B is mainly the comparison of the two courses of themselves.Foreword: Explain the definition of mother tongue education at first, then point out the necessity of comparison carried in mother tongue education and foreign language education.Chapter one: Comparison of the two kinds of language learning environments. There are four kinds of language learning environments in the general language learning. The mother tongue study has these four languages environments concurrently, while foreign language study only has one. So the quantity of the language learning, the abundance of the content and the quality of the education resource the two language study environment offers are different.Chapter two: Comparison of language learners. It compares them in the intelligence and non-intelligence factors. In the intelligence factors, language ability and cognitive ability are different in different language study stages. In the non-intelligence factors, the ripeness of developing is different with the examples of emotion, motive and self- consciousness.Chapter three: Comparison of the languages' characteristics being studied. First compare English to Chinese from such respects as the pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and characters. The characteristics of the two languages are different, so the ways of language study are different.Chapter four: Comparison of the course goal. First enumerate the characteristics of mother tongue education and foreign language education's course goal. By comparing them, we can conclude that the course goal of mother tongue education is relatively comprehensive, but the course goal of foreign language education is relatively single.Chapter five: Comparison of course content. First enumerate the course content of mother tongue education and the foreign language education. By comparing them, we can conclude that course content of mother tongue education include form and content. But course content of the foreign language education focuses on content.Chapter six: Comparison of course study way. The study way in mother tongue education is different from that in mother tongue education, so that the teaching way is different. Mother tongue teaching pays more attention to the language sense and combination of inside and outside the course.Chapter seven: Comparison of course evaluation. It compares the content and way of mother tongue education and foreign language education's course evaluation.Conclusion: Summarize the characteristics of the mother tongue education. We can summarize the characteristics of the mother tongue language on the course goal, course content, course study way and course evaluation.
