The independent college,a new model of higher educational institution,whose growth depends on both excellent educational resources of public higher education and social fund, plays a constructive role in expanding higher educational resources and fostering the harmonious expansion of public higher education and private higher education.But there are problems during the development of the independent college,for an example,some of them shared the same campus with the public university.As an experimental field of higher educational reforms,the independent college has been the focus of higher education.The thesis starts from analyzing the background of the independent college.By unscrambling the related policy, anatoming its' status and studying the differences among the independent college, the state owned and non-govement funded colleges and the private university,the thesis uncoveres the character of the independent college, summarizes contributions to our higher education which is maded by the independent college, and the successful experiences and the failure lessons during the development of the independent college, The independent college is developing.Combining document analysis and field research, the thesis deals with the problems in the location, the effort,the speciality planning of the independent college,and dicusses the competitive strategy of the independent college by the angle of higher pedagogy and educational administration.With the development of the study, the author believes that if it obeys the educational rules and tries its' best, the independent college must grow to be a new fertile soil in training personnel,an energy power of private higher education,an experimental field of higher education reform and a new field of international cooperation.
