Education on consciousness of Citizen is an essential topic closely related tothe construction of China'S modernization.With our 2,000 years of feudal autocracy,lack of citizen awareness has not only significantly constrained our developmenttoward modernization,but also been a vital problem for building a harmonious society.Students in junior middle schools are undergoing a critical period for the form of theircivic awareness.So,it is system,formal school citizen awareness education that willdevelop qualified citizens with civic education rights,obligations awareness,andsense of patriotic awareness and ethics. This paper outlines the developments of civic awareness in the Eastern andWestern worlds.Using the experience of''national civic education theory"of SuperHing Sitaina and the principal part on development of education philosophy forreference,it clarifies theoretically the feasibility for citizen awareness education iniunior middle sch001.Based on China's modernization,this paper analyses theimportance of civic education for students from the economic,political and culturalperspectives;Combined with school practice and a new round of educationcurriculum reform wave,we argue that civic education for middle school students isthe urgent need not only for comprehensive development of students,but also forschool reform and the new moral education curriculum reform. This paper brings up the preliminary definitions about our civic educationcontent for middle school students——on the one hand,"rights awareness andobligation awareness"education is the core in the legal dimension;On the other hand,political activity should focus on the national consciousness and patriotic awarenesseducation;Meanwhile,moral train will go around the ethics awareness education.Inaddition,the historical and practical reasons for the lack of citizen awareness intoday'S middle school are also exploited. This paper investigates the main channel of the secondary school civiceducation----ideological and moral lessons.Other aspects are also discussed,such ascivic education being embedded in the various disciplines,highlighting the positiveaspects of extra-curricular activities,implementation of civic education throughlearning construction and network means,achieving the integration of theschool-based curriculums and citizen awareness education,et.Finally,apart frominspiration and indoctrination,the major way to achieve citizen awareness educationin middle school,we also propose other specific methods:Value clarification law;Moral cognitive development law;Environment education law;Example Model Law;Impartial body law,Round-table time.
