With the adoption of reform and opening-up policy in the past forty years,China has made great advances on socialist modernization.Especially since the Eighteenth National Congress of the CPC,dramatic changes have taken place on all fronts of fields,such as economy,politics,culture,eco-civilization construction,etc.Along with the advancing of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,the National Conference on Education held in Beijing on September 10,2018 put forward the important topic for discussion: “New expectation lies in new era,what kind of pillars society is much needed by our country”.The Chinese Dream of fulfilling socialist modernization and achieving rejuvenation relies on qualified builders and successors of socialism and qualified citizens of a new age.Thus,civic awareness education becomes an important topic worth exploring in education field.High school education is the establishing stage of a young man's world outlook,outlook on life and values.It is also a vital period for civic awareness education.However,by the influence of exam-oriented education,our high school civic awareness education is still floating on subject education and school management level.The civic awareness education based on high school Class education is still on the way,both in theory and in practice.It is still imperfect.The author of this essay adopted Literature Review Method and Case Study Method.By consulting documents on civic awareness study from both domestic and abroad and doing practical research in classes which the author is currently teaching in Zibo No.1 High School of Shandong Province,the author is trying to show the slow progress of civic awareness education and analyze the root cause of boosting it.Also,building civic awareness education based on high school class daily management is explored in this essay both theoretically and practically.Besides defining concepts like “citizen”,“civic awareness education”,“high school” and “class management”,the essay analyzes the requirement of social development and goal of education reform to demonstrate the necessity of carrying out civic awareness education in high school class management.The author consulted civic awareness education documents both home and abroad to understand its newest development,while,absorbing successful experience and finding out flaws existing in high school civic awareness education.Based on those flaws found,the essay offers practical policy on five aspects: head-teacher leadership,class management,class-meeting course development,after-school reading and thinking and class integrated practice.The author hopes to achieve unification of both form and content in high school civic awareness education,to push forward school civic awareness education theory and to eventually achieve the harmonious accordance of scientific,democratic and lawful class management.
