In recent years,the theory of emotional quotient (EQ) is being attached more and more importance and people are paying close attention to it. The school education should develop not only the intelligence quotient (IQ) of students' but also their emotional quotient (EQ). As the main channel of communication for the moral training of school, the subject of ideology and politics has been playing an important role in the process of developing the students' EQ. In this thesis, the theory of EQ concerned is combined with the teaching practice of ideology and politics and the effective methods to develop the students' EQ in the teaching practice of the subject are discussed and probed actively. The demonstration is put forward progressively. The research methods are built on experience summary and documentary evidence. The whole thesis is divided into five parts to expound.    Part one: Introduction.    Part two: Expounding the connotation of EQ and the dialectical relationship between IQ and EQ.    Part three: Elaborating the necessity of developing the students' EQ. The development of EQ is essential for students to confront the challenges of the knowledge economy, to participate in the international competition and to promote the healthy growth and harmonious development of the youths. The development of EQ is also necessary to push on the quality education all around, to reform the present elementary education status and to develop the students' intelligence.    Part four: Discussing the necessity of training the students' EQ in the class of ideology and politics from the following three aspects: the nature, the task and the position of the subject.    Part five: Explaining the methods and means to develop the students' EQ in the course of ideology and politics. (1) Paying more attention on the EQ development of the teachers' who teach ideology and politics. (2) Excavating the factors affecting the EQ development of students' in the process of teaching. (3) The specific methods for teachers to develop the students' EQ in the process of teaching. (4) Accelerating the development of the students' EQ with a scientific system to evaluate the teaching quality of ideology and politics.
