The basic target of education is to make the students independent, voluntary and effective learners. To teach the students how to learn and train them effective learning strategies will help to improve their learning effect, lighten the burden of study and promote the educational quality obviously. Therefore, this research, studied 154 students from three grades of a normal junior middle school in Dalian, aims at finding out the current situation of the students' English learning strategies in the time of carrying out New Curriculum, trying to mediate upon the present English teaching and probe into the effective ways of training the students to use English learning strategies in order to offer a reference on English teaching and research. The research indicates: 1.The differences of using English learning strategies exist in different grades, less use while in higher grade. Among them, communicative strategies are greatly influenced.  2.The  differences of using English learning strategies show on sex, and girls'levels are a bit higher. There are obvious differences in cognitive strategies, resource strategies and the whole learning strategies.  3.The English learning strategies of normal junior middle school students have much to do with their English scores. The using levels of English strategies influence the students' scores directly.
