The initial announcement said that it would cost $124 million to hostthe 1976 Olympic games. However, a series of major cost over runs andplanning mistakes led to an Olympics for which the lowest computation ofcosts is $1.5 billion. Many argue that political and other favoritism in theawarding of contracts for construction of the venues, including Olympicstadium, led to the massive cost overruns. From then, people began toconsider the Pre-Games Planning and Construction of Olympic Venues. The article has made an analysis of the Pre-Games Planning andConstruction from the games of the Olympiad Montreal to Athens based onthe research of this field. The proportion of the amount of the new venues toall the venues, the proportion of the total costs to venues costs, and theproportion of the venues costs to the main building costs are studied andpredicted through the regression method. Finally the conclusion is madebased on the compare of the predict values and the real values of the BeijingOlympic games.
