People are stepping into the 21st century, experiencing creative education. In order to develop the students" ability in creativity and practice, we find it necessary and important for the students to do experiments. It is also the best way to promote the students" ability. Therefore, there is great need for the teachers to focus on the reformation of chemistry experiments, which is the main task during the period of free education. As with the fact of chemistry education in China, teachers should improve their ideas on teaching, make all efforts to overcome the difficulties and combine the inquiring experiments with the classroom instruction. Then the chemistry teaching will have greater vitality.The article focuses on the function of inquiring experiments and how to bring them into effect. By conducting different kinds of experiments, the students will experience the process of scientific research, which will deepen their consciousness about scientific research , inspire their interest in chemistry and advance their learning methods. In this way, the goals will be achieved to train their ability of creativity and practice, to consolidate their knowledge in chemistry and improve their skills in experiment.This subject is to be dealt with in five parts. In the first part, it mainly talks about the problems in traditional chemical experiment and the importance and function of chemical experiment in chemical teaching in high schools. And this subject is chosen after studying the actualities of the inquiring experiment home and abroad. In the second part, the writer makes a brief study of the signification of doing inquiring experiments, providing theoretical basis, designing fundamentals and the main modes.The third part deals with how to fulfill the subject in different ways based on the actualities of inquiring experiments in high schools. In the forth part, the writer analyses the effect of experiments. The problems existing in inquiring experiment in high schools are presented in the last part, including the prospect on this subject.
