Reading is a must for human and a kind of self-salvation regardless the time, space and above daily life. Reading is also the center of Chinese teaching. With the course reform in basic education, "the standards of Chinese Teaching"(new edition) proposes some new concepts and approaches, Extra-curricular reading for senior students has drawn the attentions of the society, school and families of students. "Chinese Reading" brings about fierce arguments, for selecting two contemporary kongfu novels as "Tian Long Ba Bu" (by Jin Yung) and "Couching Tiger, Hidden Dragon "(by Wang Du Yin). Teaching Chinese Reading and the methods to guide students have been discussed a lot recently and the central topics are mainly focused on students' reading initiatives and their sustainable development. However, the use of the book is not satisfying in teaching Chinese reading up to now; unfortunately, there are few articles or books featuring systematical and profound study on this topic, let along the strategic measures in a whole scale. According to this circumstance, this paper deals with the book's features, fictions, current situation and applying methods, for the purpose of making full use of the book and helping students improve their literally. The paper first talks about the features and functions of "Chinese readings", analyzes its applying situation and causes for the situation, and finally raises the possible suggestions to teach Chinese reading with "Chinese Reading " as its basic material.
