With the progress of our era and society, internet is boosting. Internet provides an affluentbackground for youngsters and deeply influenced youngsters’ study and life. In this background,this study aims at investigating Pathological Internet Use (PIU), Adolescents Internet ServicePreference and the impact to the interpersonal adjustment using questionnaire survey of419middle-school children. This study comprehensively exploring the characteristic of PathologicalInternet Use (PIU) and Adolescents Internet Service Preference in middle-school children, andtheir relation with interpersonal adjustment. Results show that:Firstly, information and entertainment service are the mostly accepted, social service in thesecond place, and transaction service is the last one.Secondly,3.34%adolescents who had PIU scores higher than3.15were identified asspecific PIU, indicating that their level of Pathological Internet Use was rather high.0.24%adolescents who had PIU scores between3and3.15, indicating that their level of PathologicalInternet Use was comparatively high.96.4%adolescents who had PIU scores lower than3,indicating that their level of Pathological Internet Use was quite normal.Thirdly, grade was the predictor of Adolescents Internet Service Preference. For specificperformance, with social entertainment service information service, grade6adolescents aresignificant higher than grade9, grade7adolescents are significant higher than grade9and grade8adolescents are significant lower than grade9; with information service, grade8adolescentsare significant lower than grade9; with entertainment service, grade6adolescents are significanthigher than grade9, grade8adolescents are significant lower than grade9; with transactionservice, grade6adolescents are significant higher than grade9, grade8adolescents aresignificant lower than grade9. Sex and grade are significant predictors of PIU. Male adolescentsare signicantly higer than female adolescents; grade7adolescents are significant higher thangrade9.Fourthly, each of dimensionality of Adolescents Internet Service Preference is notsignificantly corrected with lonliness, but has a significantly positive correlation with friendsupport. Information service has a significantly positive correlation with peer acceptance. Information service and entertainment service have significantly negative correlation with peerrejection.Fifthly, each of dimensionality of PIU has a significantly positive correlation with lonliness,but not with friend support(tolerability and negative affect are excluded). each of dimensionalityof PIU is not significantly correlated with peer acceptance and peer rejection(peer rejection andnegative affect are excluded)Sixthly, Information service positively predicted friend support, entertainment servicenegatively predicted peer rejection, The rest of the dimensions cannot predict lonliness and peeracceptance.Seventhly, negative affect of PIU positively predicted lonliness and peer rejection, andmood alteration negatively predicted friend support; The rest of the dimensions cannot predictpeer acceptance.
