| Vocational education is a significant part of a country' s educational cause. It is an important approach to promote economy, social development and employment. It also has more direct and decisive meaning in improving the qualities of laborers. Therefore, vocational education has a closer relation with the development of the economic society. Since the 1960s, lots of countries have begun to develop vocational education and have attached great importance to the research into the relation between vocational education and the harmonious development of economy.The thesis takes the condition of adaptation between vocational education and the local economy of Yixing as the research object, which is an economically developed city in South Jiangsu. The thesis consists of five chapters apart from the introduction and conclusion.Chapter I describes the theory on vocational education, stating the concept, scope, characteristics, the emergence and the developing process of vocational education.Chapter II mainly introduces the present situation of the need for talent in Yixing' s economic development. Located in the center of the Delta Economic Area, Yixing has an advantage in natural condition and geographical position. It has a solid economic foundation and a high level of economic development. Therefore, it has a great need for talent.Chapter III studies the condition of adaptation between vocational education and the local economy of Yixing and analyzes the existing problems. On one hand, the vocational education in Yixing promotes the local economic development and brings up large quantities of talented people. On the other hand, the vocational education in Yixing cannot completely suit the development of local economy. There still exist some problems.
