leaching cases, which serve as a bridge between the theory and practice, have been the focus of attention of the scholars in China. Based upon the authors' study of the new curriculum, this paper makes a detailed study of the indispensibility of the part, the which teaching cases play in changing teachers' roles as well as in moulding students' characters while focusing on the practical use of the cases.After defining the intension and extension of teaching cases, the paper emphasizes the importance of the cases on promoting teaching reform. With constructionalism as its theoretical base and the description of motion (physics modual I for senior high school students) as an example, the paper proposes a comprehensive redesigning of the open cases and ended cases in the teaching of physics.It makes a profound study of the make-up and content of the teaching cases from the perspective of motion, attitude and values and develops a comprehensive plan for the teaching of a unit. It can help to establish a tie between the theory and teaching practice, boosting the reform of physics teaching in senior high schools.
