As the new curriculum reform puts it,to develop students' overall quality and improve their learning efficiency, students should be treated as the main part of the teaching activities and teachers are the guiders of efficient classes. However, traditional English classroom teaching methods can not meet these requirements anymore. To find out more efficient teaching methods,I conducted an experimental teaching research, which lasted about six months.Firstly,I chose two classes as the experimental subjects and then divided them into control group and experimental group. Before conducting the teaching experiment,I read a large number of research papers and reference books to find the best way to make guided learning cases. After reading these books,I designed a questionnaire for students in Lianyungang to have a deeper understanding of students' interests and their learning habits.According to these opinions and suggestions students gave in the questionnaires,I tried to find out the best way to make students interested in English classroom teaching with different tasks and activities. To change the traditional teaching modes according to students' requirements and to improve their learning efficiency,I used task-based language teaching and guided learning cases as the theoretical basis of the new teaching methods. To check whether the new teaching methods work or not,I used different teaching methods in different classes, that is,traditional teaching methods in control group and task-based language teaching methods in experimental group. To further figure out whether the new teaching methods can have a positive effect on students' learning efficiency,I set two examinations relatively before and after the experiment. These examination papers were designed according to the standard of senior high school entrance examination in Lianyungang,Jiangsu province. To make sure the fairness of the results,I mixed the examination papers together, and the teachers did not know the exact identities of these students. At last,I used SPSS to analyze the results of the two examinations. The statistics of the analysis showed that students in experimental group had an obvious progress after six months of task-based language teaching with the guidance of new type of learning cases.Even though there may beMany disadvantages in this experiment and in this thesis,I shall work harder to find more efficient methods to make English language learning more interesting and closer to our daily lives so that English can be accepted by more students in our country.
