Project learning is a new learning mode derived from the concept of quality enhancement and innovation. To effectively organize and execute project learning, the educators are required to change the traditional education concept, which poses a challenge for the "knowledge imparting" teachers and "knowledge accepting" students and requires improvement of the hard and soft wares at school. Therefore, it is the challenge faced by the curriculum reformation initiated recently. As the exerciser of project learning, the author probed into the connotation and characteristic of the project learning, the development of project learning abroad as well as theoretical references. Furthermore, the author conducted a questionary survey on the development of project learning at five high schools in Kunming and interviewed with some of the teachers and students randomly. By the statistical data, the author found out how the teachers and students think about the project learning and the assessment method, the major problems and influences encountered during practicing. The author concluded that both the outer factors (the local governments, educational institutions, community conditions as well as the parents) and the inner factors (the schoolmaster, teachers, schools and the school environments) are mainly responsible for affecting the project learning. With the definite cases the author has constructed an assessment system for the project learning and, after strategic analyses offered recommendations for the improvement to the project learning.
