Being a social phenomenon, sports are closely connected with politics, promoting friendly relations between countries and being influenced by politics as well. With the passing time, many new forms of diplomacy emerged and began playing a more and more active role in world politics, one of which was Sportive Diplomacy, with sovereign states as its subject, and promoting friendly relationship between countries as its object. Compared with other forms of diplomacy, Sportive Diplomacy is more flexible and easier to be accepted.Chinese government always understands the role sports could play in diplomacy. Under the direct management of administrative departments, China's Sportive Diplomacy bears obvious political imprint. In the past fifty years, from a special angle, it reflected the development of China's diplomacy. This article selected three typical cases in the history of China's Sportive Diplomacy, with the aim of demonstrating the historical role of Sportive Diplomacy, especially in blazing a new trail in diplomacy, promoting friendly relationships, establishing a favorable national image in the world, etc.The strengthening of the overall strength of the country and the improvement of its foreign relations were the key factors in China's succeeding in bidding for the 2008 Olympic Games, which is an opportunity for China. We should grasp the opportunity and make greater progress in Sportive Diplomacy.
