Study Of Korean Sports Diplomacy

After the end of the Cold War, no big wars took place among the human beings. In order to meet the diplomatic requirements made based on the situation of political multi-polarity and economic globalization and safeguard national security and seek proper international status, the cooperation between countries is becoming more and more important. In such a period, the importance of culture diplomacy is playing a more and more important role. In the implementation of culture diplomacy, the most prominent and effective field is sports, i.e., sports diplomacy.This study firstly expounds the notion or definition of sports diplomacy, then introduces South Korea's sports diplomacy and the development process of the sports in South Korea to China and at last illustrates the importance of sports diplomacy from the perspectives that are different from Chinese ones. In addition, based on the study of the impacts upon South Korea by 1998 Seoul Olympics, this article further explains the influence 2008 Beijing Olympics may bring to the South Korea. Finally, this article makes some predictions on the imminent changes in China, so as to provide better suggestions for the government of South Korea to make policies.
