It's no doubt that teachers play critical roles in education development. Teacher Professional Development (TPD) has been one of the central issues in educational innovation. Against the background of this, it makes great sense to seek a proper way towards effective TPD for both teachers who work on front line and other educators. As innovative theories of promoting TPD, both New-professionalism and Peer coaching claim that the academic autonomy as well as individual developing should be focused on before tacking a further professional development and culture of cooperation. As a matter as fact, varied studies and practice has verified that a way of cooperation among teachers could bring more contributions to professional development for both individuals and groups.Based on these, this paper presented the needs of teaching research groups in national schools, analyzed the operations of their cooperative activities, and explored the ways of carrying out the activities in teaching and research groups effectively.A comparative study between activities of our teaching-research groups and peer coaching in America, which initiated in 1980s, was carried out. By exploring the differences between them, the paper revealed some scarcities and defaults of the former, and some suggestions about how to organize and conduct the activity effectively then were given, so that we can partially improve our instructions and promote teachers development. It is a comparative study, and also a case study when it comes to the exploration of national teaching and research groups. We attempt to present some facts through the case of H school. The paper contains four parts, which are referred to the developmental histories of both American peer coaching and our teaching - research group, the operation steps of peer coaching activity, then the situations in our school we could peek through the selected case, and suggestions and brief conclusions as a result of previous articulations and analysis.
