Jiangsu Province, The Current "3 +2" Entrance Examination Reform Explore

The university entrance examination is one of the national education examinations and is currently the biggest and most deeply affected one. The university entrance examination, which is closely related to numerous households, has important function of regulation and instruction for selecting talents to colleges and the teaching of high schools. Thank to the reform, the system of university entrance examination, resumed since 1977,has been developed and perfected. But there is still some contradiction and problems need to be resolved urgently. In 1999, the Ministry of Education issued the suggestion concerning pushing on the reform on enrollment system of entrance examination for higher education, which decides to practice the new program of test category constitution called "3+X" in the next three years. According to the suggestion, each province, city and autonomous region carries out many explorations in the test reform actively combined with local specific situation. Among these explorations, the practice of "3+2" program in Jiangsu province since 2003 caused much reaction in the society.This paper investigates and analyzes the "3+2" reform program of university entrance examination in Jiangsu province. There are mainly three chapters in this paper. Chapter one analyses the background of the "3+X" test reform. Chapter two carries on analysis to the positive meaning and existent problems of the reform according to the survey in the practical results of current "3+2" test reform in Jiangsu province. On the basis of survey and analysis, chapter three reflects on several important problems of the university entrance examination reform under new situation and put forward some ideas for further improvement of the test system.
