Frontier Regions Students' Language Skills In A Comparative Study

The base task of Chinese teaching and studying is to develop our students' ability of understanding and using the spoke and written Chinese language. Understanding means listening and reading, and using refers to speaking and writing. So I think if we combine listening, speaking, reading and writing happily, we will be able to develop the Language ability of the students well, raise the efficiency and improve the quality of the quality of our teaching the language.About the four abilities, there is a great difference among a variety of groups and individual persons, there is a great difference in understanding and using the language to the students from between the minorities living in outlying district and the Han Nationality or the minorities living in developed district. The writer teaches the minority students Chinese language in outlying district. I made full use of this advantage and made a sampling survey among the students from Han and the minorities here. I have tested the students from abilities. By comparing and analyzing, I have probed the reasons why the students have a poor ability and why there is a poor quality in learning Chinese here. I found the methods to improve the Chinese teaching quality in this area according to the specific situation.After comparing the language ability between the Han and the minorities in the area, especially speaking. I have analyzed their common and different points in the four abilities and found the sources: the differences between the minorities, mother language and Chinese language, from differences in language situation between the students from the two groups, the undeveloped economy here, the backward and conservative ideas of the minorities here, the present teaching materials not suitable for the group, as well as the teachers, improper teaching methods.
