The teacher is the most important human resource in the universities, and is the core factor of the university management, It is the most critical and most fundamental factor, and determining factor of efficiency. So the study on motivation mechanism of the universities teacher is of great significance to reform and development of higher education in China. The establishment of teacher motivation mechanism in the universities is the core content of human resources management.According to theory of motivation, it refers to people by meeting all kinds of needs, to stimulate, to develop, to strengthen and to maintain the human's behavior, realize organizational objectives. Theory of motivation includes Content-based one and Process-based one. The teachers in the universities are special social groups in which have their own their characteristics of the work, the personality, the economy and the needs. Under the new circumstances, teacher's motivator including payment, capability, human capital, pressure and power and so on. There is the complex relationship in these motivators. Currently motivation mechanism of teachers in the universities also exist many shortages of the system design. So when we build the teacher's motivation mechanism, we have to persist in the certain principles, they are the principle of people-oriented, the principle of fairness, competitive principles, the principle of distinction, material and spiritual inspiration combined principles, immediate and long-term incentive combined principles . Therefore we can encourage teachers from the following seven aspects: the motivation of appointment, the motivation of achievements inspection, the motivation of salary, the motivation of training, the motivation of participation in democratic management, the motivation of academic team, and the motivation of talent introducing incentives. Finally by analyzing M university teacher motivation mechanism, the author puts forward assessments and suggestions.
