Our country has started the new turn curriculum reform of basic education in the new century. The basic values of the new curriculum is to promote every student's development. The new curriculum reforms of geography demand to alter the method of students' study, to advocate self-study, cooperative learning and inquiry learning, to emphasize evaluation of study result and study process. This paper has done the preliminary study of geography learning psychology of the middle-school student for the demand of the new curriculum reform and the new education ideas of "people first". We hope that this paper could form a systematic theory framework, could provide the reference on constructing a theory of geography learning in Middle school, and could provide an idea of education practice.There are six components of this paper. The background, status quo, purpose and significance of this subject have been discussed in the introductory part. The concept, characteristic of learning and geography learning and the impact of learning theory on geography learning has been elaborated in the theoretical research part. The third part of the paper is a questionnaire survey of geography learning psychology of the middle-school student targeted for geography teaching. This part has five factors: motive, interest, emotion, will, character. The process of geography learning of the middle-school student has been analyzed in the fourth part with five aspects: psychological factors impacting on geography learning of the middle-school student, that is, intellectual factors and non-intelligence factors; the basic mechanism of learning psychology; the psychology process of learning geography knowledge; the psychology process of learning geography skills; the psychology process of the development of moral character in geography study. In response to these issues, several suggestions about geography learning of the middle-school student and conclusions have been proposed in the last part. This paper has used documentation research, investigation law, observation law, analysis, etc.
