Whether education is to cultivate people's good behavior or to train talented persons has been a vexed fundamental issue in the field of modern education. The essence of the issue is what learners are to learn: are they to learn how to behave or to learn knowledge and skills? In an era of practicality, it is an established fact that knowledge and skills are considered the essence of education and learning. This will result in utilitarianism and instrumentalism in education. This is what is called in ancient past"to learn is to behave". Now days, plotting has become a life style. People can not live without the external forces. Thus, they have lost their true nature. So now, it is very common that modern people don't know how to live a true life, they don't make the difference between good and bad behaviors, and they've lost their goals in life .Feeling the touch of the predicament of living, the deterioration of people's true nature, the decline of human's spirit., Mr Xiong Shili took as his responsibility exporing the root of life, the essence of existence, the origin of value, and believed that the essence of education and behaving is to understand the general situations, which is the destination of learning. If learning doesn't explore noumenon, everything in the world loses its sources, and morality loses its internal roots. Therefore, he held that human being and everything in the world have the same noumenon: the inherent quality. The nature of everything in the world is the same as that of human being. The inherent quality is the root and beginning of everything. Thus Xiong Shili thought the inherent quality to be the noumenon of the universe. It's the inherent quality that dominates the universe. Therefore, the inherent quality is the root and nature of life, and the source of values. Education is to develop people's inherent qualities, and learning is to teach how to be a pure man..The inherent quality can only be obtained through long practice. Learning is to try one's best to restore the misled mind, and education is to train the body and soul,...
