As a branch of brain science, the relationship between music and the brain has always been a research topic receiving wide attention. Research scholars hope to uncover the mysteries about the relationship between music and the brain. From the perspective of school education, attaching importance to school music education, attaching importance to the role of music in students'brain and conducting music lessons by means of music educational measures containing brain science are of great significance to improving the teaching level and quality of music lessons of regular schools, promoting all-round development of the students'brain, and improving the students'comprehensive qualities. As distinctive from studies of the relationship between music and the brain from the angle of psychology in the past, this paper, by means of research methods such as comparison, induction and enumeration, seeks to analyze the special educational role of the art of music in the brain and demonstrate the close relationship between music and the biological nature of the brain from the perspective of the brain's physiological structure. This leads us to the central argument of this paper: Learning and memory of the brain are a kind of regular nerve activities. This regularity is controlled by the physiological characteristics of the brain. Music has great influences over development of the brain's learning and memory, and we should have a full awareness of the important role of music. Application of music teaching methods consistent with physiological characteristics of the brain to teaching is in line with the brain's requirement for physiological development. Therefore, it will achieve very good effects and enable us to reach the ultimate goal of promoting development of the brain through music and improving the comprehensive qualities of students through music education. The scope of study of this paper is relationship between classroom teaching of music in primary and middle school and the brain's learning and memory. The results and significance of this paper's research direction is: (1) By way of learning the theoretical knowledge and conclusions of scientific experiments of brain science, this paper reveals the close relationship between music and the physiological structure of the brain, further confirms from the scientific perspective the important role of music education in the brain's development, and further expands the horizon of music educational theories. (2) Focusing on the two major factors, i.e. classroom teaching of music and the brain's physiological structure for learning and memory, this paper distills brain science knowledge applicable to classroom teaching of music so as to achieve the double objectives of promoting physiological development of the brain and improving effectiveness of music lessons. (3) This paper emphasizes the combination of brain science theories with actual classroom teaching of music, and on the basis of physiological development of primary and middle school students, analyzes possible problems that might occur in classroom teaching, puts forward respective teaching methods and can play a certain role of guidance for music teachers.
