Chinese classical novels, gems of traditional Chinese art, are of great importance in fostering the students' humane attainments and developing reading and writing. But faced with the culture shock, "fashion culture" and "snack culture" for example, the teaching of Chinese classical novels in middle schools has encountered a lot of problems. Meanwhile, teaching studies in this field is comparatively insufficient with more single-textual and partial studies but lack of integration and system. From the perspective of the present teaching situation and problems, this thesis expounds various causes of the difficulties encountered, trying to extend teaching in fostering study interest, borrowing new critics and properly employing movies and TV resources; explores the path that the Chinese teachers should follow in facing challenges and attaining goals; comes up with several plans in opening the elective courses of the Chinese classical works.
