Early reading in family has aroused wide concern in the international community since the 1980s. Along with such concern, the study of early reading in family has begun in China. Due to the wrong way of looking at early reading in family, the present research condition in China is worrying.Reading ability is independent, which is the base of all kinds of learning. To gain reading ability needs to learn and cultivate gradually. There is great relativity between early reading ability and all academic performance. Therefore, in family, adults should organize reading activities for children because their cognitive level is limited and their knowledge and experience is not enough. It is impossible for them to read independently.This thesis focuses on concepts of early reading in family and illustrates its significance. It also analyses the present condition and problems about early reading in family and attempts to find out factors which influence early reading in family. Moreover, some strategies have been put forward to instruct early reading in family. The research methods involve literature review, survey, interview and on-the-spot experiment. The author compares, analyses and synthesizes all the materials. The approach is vigorous, scientific and realistic. The thesis has instructive significance on reading practice.
