The ideology rebuilding movement is a momentous event in the Ideological and Political field and the culture field in the early period of P.R.C, which is considered as the first large-scale campaign being against intellectuals in the period of modern China. The primary aim of the ideology rebuilding movement is to popularize the basic principles of the Marxism and Mao Zedong Thought, and to criticize all kinds of feudal class ideologies and bourgeois ideologies. All kinds of intellectuals are involved in the movement successively. The earliest and deepest movement occurred among the college intellectuals has made profound influence. The ideology rebuildmg movement among the college intellectuals also occurred under the extremely complicated background of the home and the abroad, and the college intellectuals' character is one of the most important causes. The movement has been lasting for one year, and it could be divided into four phases: mobilization, criticism and self-criticism, land reform and conclusion. The ideology of college intellectuals was unified through the movement. And the basic mantic aims of the movement were achieved, with a series of our country's higher education reforms being pushed forward. Inevitably, many issues were left because of the later stage's precipitant and rude method. The intellectuals' characters, such as independency and criticism, almost disappeared after the movement. At the same time, the movement had a great influence on the college intellectuals' health, academia and morality. It is no doubt that we can exam the gain and loss and get some academic values and practical significances by reviewing the complicated course of the ideology rebuilding movement. ,...
