Based on the new theories of evaluation such as changing the function of discriminating and selecting excessively, and exert the function to promote the development of students, teachers and teaching practice in reform of basic education curriculum , using methods of literature review, investigation, experiment and action research, the author analyses and explains theories of senior geography study evaluation and evaluation suggestions on Geography Curriculum Standard in Senior High School, and bring forward appropriate evaluation according to differences of students' mental characteristics and geographical mode of thinking.Considering from the evaluation's aim, content, method, subject, function, the author analyses the basic theories of geography study evaluation, defines the meaning of it, namely, functions of senior geography study evaluation give expression to that the new curriculum takes students' development as basic target, while study evaluation that takes students' development as basic target calls for appropriate evaluation. And the thesis discourses theory foundation and evaluation methods of research on senior geography study evaluation appropriation on the background of new curriculum.Further more, the thesis analyses differences of students' cognitive style and mode of thinking, and carry out empirical research on appropriation evaluation with forms such as geography study evaluation project of active type, geography knowledge evaluation project of different types, and geography evaluation examples of different geography study levels. We should explore how to bring appropriate geography study evaluation into effect in geography education and teaching practice, in order to emphasize developmental and invigorative functions.
