The nature and mission of educational work requires teachers to not only possess reasonable professional knowledge and higher professional levels but also have great sense of responsibility, which is the pre-condition and basic guarantee .The university time is an extremely important period for a man's whole life and decides his future development . Since university teachers have the greatest effect on college students, teachers should deeply realize the responsibility they bear on their shoulders"It's hard to manage the education well without responsibility ."As a university teacher, I fully realize the importance of sense of responsibility in educational work. Without it, even if a teacher is knowledgeable with high school record, he can't be devoted to the teaching career. Without it, he may know how to teach but don't know how to educate students. At present, such tragedies as the event of Ma Jiajue or sprinkling the bear occur in university campuses. Some college students commit suicide because of being disappointed in love affairs, failing to pass examinations or being shameful for their family's poverty. Shouldn't university teachers be responsible for this? Besides, under the impact of market economy floud tide, some university teachers have some problems in moral character. For example, some pursue money and fame excessively; some are not devoted to their profession; some only teach but don't educate students; some don't pay attention to molding their own images, etc. Therefore, it is of vital realistic meaning to enhance the fostering of teachers'sense of responsibility. Morover, in the 21st century, the society has entered knowledge economy age with informationization and globalization as its foundation and competition and changing as its features. Nowadays, the international competition has transferred to the fierce competition in quality and quantity for talented persons. Education is the key to whether a large number of initiative persons with international competitive abilities can be trained, As the leading force in educating process, teacher bear great responsibility.Li Bingde, the professor of Northwest Normal University, once pointed out that teachers'responsibility is extremely broad in the 21st century. They not only teach students knowledge but also foster students'ability and comprehensive quality. They not only are responsible for students'study at school but pay attention to students'future development to lay a foundation for their lifelong study. They're concerned with students'affairs both at class and after class. As members of entire teacher groups, on one hand, university teachers should obey basic occupational ethics; on the other hand, undertaking tasks of fostering talented persons for our country, they are supposed to have the whole world in view and have the vision of developing continually and daring to innovate. While imparting knowledge, university teachers should pay great attention to fostering students'innovative spirit and ability, good psychological quality, personal moral character and cooperative spirit. These are new requirements arising from high-quality personnel training in the new century. With the increasing pace of modernization and arrival of knowledge economy age, university teachers bear greater responsibility.
