To help the students form a good math cognitive structure and make them have the ability to practice and consciousness of bringing forth new ideas so that they can adapt themselves to the society are the requirements of math curriculum reformation, which are also what the math educators try to do. So math open-approach teaching resulting from the problems is helpful to achieve the math education goal. After the investigation, it is found that some math teachers in Junior school have tried this approach, but they have different ideas about it, while others have expected to carry out but they find it hard because they do not know what it really is and how to perform. After studying the investigation and some documents about open-approach teaching and also by using changing open math approach, cognitivism and constructivism theories, the article puts forward the explicit and practical definition: it is a kind of activity which is driven by problems, aiming at developing the students self-regulated constructing and using knowledge by means of open math thinking and activities. By doing so, open-approach teaching mode comes into being. The experiment based on the theories and mode teaching shows that open-approach teaching is good for the students to have a good math cognitive structure. It is also good for them to develop their math thinking and promote them to study math in an active and creative way.
