People can not form good character without the restraint and the guidance of law and education. Higher education is indispensable from disciplinary punishment education.First, this thesis defines the implications of disciplinary punishment and its limit, outlines the basic elements as well as the general models of punishment education. Second, it points out that, at present, there are prominent problems in enforcing the disciplinary punishment in our country's higher education. There is no consensus in the understanding of the nature of disciplinary punishment in our universities; There exist the phenomena of not only catering to students and being afraid of punishing them, but also unlawful and unreasonable punishment education. Accordingly, in view of the above questions, when we carry on the disciplinary punishment, we should use comprehensively the principles of respect, education, law, justice, right time, moderate degree, etc. In the course of carrying on disciplinary punishment in the university, its operation process ,which mainly includes error admission, making punishment decision and delivering it to the accused, reconsidering the appeal, supervising the implementing, feed backing and keeping trace of education etc , should be standardized. Standard process of disciplinary punishment can assure disciplinary punishment lawfulness, reasonable, justice, fairness and so on. Finally, this thesis provides some measures which will make disciplinary punishment function well in the university, strengthening the consciousness of being the law, using disciplinary punishment lawfully; enhancing education theory and moral tutelage, using disciplinary punishment scientifically and artfully; establishing self-management committee of university, making students use disciplinary punishment independently; building the atmosphere favorable to disciplinary punishment.It is necessary to note there is no perfect education method, disciplinary punishment should not be used alone, it should be combined with other education methods, especially with encouragement, communication, influence, tolerance, adroitly guides action according to circumstances. Only in this way, can disciplinary punishment develop fully its unique function.
