The relation between degree function and structure were discussed and analyzed, which can accelerate the development of degree system.According to the theory of system, the structure and the function of the degree were analyzed and expatiated starting from the essence of the degree. The degree structure is an important part of degree system. It main includes layer structure, type structure, section structure and distribute structure. In this paper, these four kinds of degree structure were analyzed in detail. According to the theory of system, structure and function were indivisible. Different structure has different functions. So the structure of degree was analyzed, at the same time, the other three functions of degree which are evaluation function, management function and encourage function, were discussed. The degree structure and function is vitally related and indivisible, so when the relationship between the structure and the function of the academic degree were discussed, we should start from two aspects of that. First, the optimized degree structure can accelerate exertion of its function. Second, the perfect function contributes to optimized of its structure.There are many problems in our country's education system structure. For example, there are short of essential contact and communion between each layer and type. These problems must were reflected throw the degree structure. And the function of degree will be influenced. In this paper, the unreasonable of degree structure was discussed, studying the advanced experience from other countries. So the exactitude direction of our degree structure was summarized and the function of degree can be completely exerted, the degree become one of that will accelerate higher education perfect and have a contribution for the development of higher education.
