Deng Xiaoping's educational thought, as a crucial part of Deng Xiaoping's theory, came into being in the 1970s, when the domestic and international situation changed dramatically. It developed and was enriched continually along with the flourish developments of our socialism educational cause, and it always directs our socialism educational cause in the kilter.Based on the dialectical materialism's point of view that combining theory with practice, this paper falls into five parts: the formation, basic principles, features, the achievements and problems in our educational reform and talents education, and the implications to our education cause at present.Part one: The formation of Deng Xiaoping's educational thought. Deng Xiaoping's educational thought, as an important part of Marxism educational theory, not only has its particular epochal background, but also has its profound factual gist. At the epoch of scientific technology revolution and socialism movements, Deng had a deep understanding of the influences education playing on a country, a nation, even the whole world. Based on our country's condition and educational work's implement, Deng focused on practical problems such as the lack of education capital, the incompleteness of the educational legal system, the relatively low status of the teachers, and the inharmony between education and economy. He made a series of concise dissertation which inherited and developed Marxism educational theory, forming the great Chinese-characteristic thought-Deng Xiaoping's educational thought.Part two: The content of Deng Xiaoping's educational thought and its essential features. Deng Xiaoping's educational thought with profound and fruitful implication can be subdivided into four parts: the fundamental status of education, fostering people with ability, the direction of education's future development, and the reform of education.Part three: Recent developments of Deng Xiaoping's educational thought nowadays. The turn of the centuries marked a millstone of human history. At this point, Jiang Zemin made analysis and judgments of the education reform and developments up to date according to the new trends of domestic and international fast developments of economy, scientific technology, and education, which made Deng Xiaoping's educational thought develop to a higher level. Our new generation of central government leader collectivity with the core of Hu Jintao stick to revitalize the country through science and education, treat the cultivation of talents from strategic perspective, attach great importance to education, and advocate the people-oriented conception in administration.Part four: The achievements and problems of education reform and talent reserve in China. Through years pursuit of strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, the priority of education development has be carried out; the bases and conditions of education development have been strengthened; quality education has been implemented all-rounded; the education reform has been deepened continuously. Our country's education has reached historical accomplishments that the overall level was improved greatly, and a historical leap was realized. However, there are still some problems. For example, the weak bases of education developments, the overall relatively low proficiency of the human resources; the insufficient expenditure of education, the regional disparity of education development; the low rate of literature men, the shortage of high-level personnel,; the problem of industrialization of education, and the financial burden of the people to afford education.Part five: The implications of the Deng Xiaoping's educational thought to our country's education cause. As the overall guidance of our country's education cause, Deng Xiaoping's educational thought has profound the implications to our country's education cause. For instance, give the priority to education development; ensure put the educational investments in advance to guarantee its proper development; transmit form general education to general and professional education; update the educational concepts to implement the quality education; implement the scientific concept of development, deepen educational reform, treat people as the center, improve the quality of education and pedagogy; transform the talents training form discipline-centered to learner-centered; enhance the advanced study of teachers to establish teacher teams with high quality; change the educational reform from changing system to system innovation.
