On The Goal And Orientation Of National Defense Education In University In China

This thesis focuses on the discussion of the objective construction and theorientation of the national defense education in colleges according to itshistrorical development and related environment.By analysing its enssence, we can see that the defense education incolleges is a kind of special education which is intended for college studentsand aims at the national defense and modernlization. As an independent andfully-developed pedagogic subject which has found its place in the highereducation, its development is the result of the self-improvement of highereducation as well as the further development of pedadogy in colleges. Thehistorical study shows that the national defense education in colleges grows inpace with the development of higher education, which proves that the nationaldefence education does not mean the military training only as it was expectedbefore. By analysing the situation of the national defense and comparing withthe defence education in the foreign countries, it is concluded that China'snational defense education should adhere to the principle of scientificdevelopment. With a further study of the new problems in the new situation, weshould turn the way of education for crash war preparations to the educationwhich suits the development of the national strength and the internationalcompetition, and turn the way of"training" which emphasies the millitary skillsto that of "educating" which pays more attention of fostering students'comprehensive quality, thus making the education meet the requirements of thenational security and the national defence construction for the talents in thepeaceful period.As for the discipline orientation, the emphasis should be put on the subjectby stressing the main function and the related functions, which implies that thethe national defence education should take education as its main purpose,colleges and universities as its subject and the national defense as its content.
