Comprehensive Chinese study is the outcome brought about by the educatonal reform of the new Era, conforming to the current trend and contemporary social development. It is not only a notion but a practice in education. It is equally a sacred duty for every theoretical educator to conftront new things, pay close attention to the development of educational theory and practice and actively participate in the research of educational reform. The present theses aims to explore the project of comprehensive Chinese study both theoretically and practically on the basis of complete comprehension of the Standards of Chinese Curriculums by employing the latest research achievements for reference from the characteristics of comprehensive Chinese study.The theses consists of five parts: Part I. A brief analysis of the current application of comprehensive Chinese study and a reflection on the present comprehensive Chinese study in high schools. Part II. A theoretical outline of comprehensive Chinese study, which mainly probes into the theoretical fundation for comprehensive Chinese study and its definition, and provides theoretical support and guidence for the following improvement strategies. Part III. Aims and principles of the practice of comprehensive Chinese study. Part IV. The perfection of practice strategies for comprehensive Chinese study. It serves as the focus of the theses to provide tentative analysis and arrangement for the practical model of comprehensive Chinese study both on the levels of notion and strategy, on the other hand, according to the common and individual features of practical operation, it concludes the set pattern and variable pattern for the operational practice model of comprehensive Chinese study with adequate teaching cases attached. Part V. An evaluation of the present comprehensive Chinese study in high schools.
